CONGRATULATIONS to all our Typing Challenge Winners for Term 1, 2018; you should be very proud of your results!
The Typing Challenge was held between the 18th and 24th of March with over 1400 classes participating worldwide. This term, we have seen a number of records broken and milestones reached. The Typing Tournament Online website had the highest number of users in a single day. Since its inception, on the 20th of March , 2018. Students around the world are increasingly engaging with the Typing Tournament Online system. We have seen some great improvements in their skills as we have seen in the leader board results. In fact, collectively, students typed over 142,000 words more than last year’s Term 4 competition with the average words per minute speed increased from 16.0 to 17.4 wpm. We are excited to see how far students skills improve for the next Typing Challenge.

Did You Know There Are Other Typing Competitions Across The World?
Since 2011 Malaysia has hosted a Typing Competition called Speed Typing Contest (STC). The Competition is held on World Typing Day which falls on the 8th January. To be eligible, participants have to meet a minimum words per minute (WPM) for the final live competition. The initial stage is open to all regardless of age but only the 200 fastest entrants enter the final stage. Participants have 5 minutes to record their best result.
In 2011 the first winner was 16 year old – Shaun Low Foo Shern, who clocked in at 146 words per minute which is the current Malaysian record!
Maybe in a future Typing Challenge we will see a national record broken too!
